Trauma therapy for what you are still carrying

Trauma is not only the big, obvious events. It is anything that overwhelmed your ability to cope at the time and still shows up in how you feel, react or relate. Trauma is the featured specialty of Dr. Stephanie Caine's practice.

You may recognize some of this

You do not need to have it all figured out before reaching out.

  • Reactions that feel bigger than the moment in front of you
  • Feeling on guard, easily startled, or unable to fully relax
  • Numbness, or a sense of watching your life from a distance
  • Avoiding people, places or conversations that bring it back
  • Understanding exactly what happened, and still feeling stuck in it
  • Coping well at work while struggling in private

How trauma therapy can help

Trauma-informed therapy starts from a simple position: the ways you learned to protect yourself made sense at the time. The work is not about blaming those responses. It is about understanding them well enough that they no longer run the show.

Many people come to trauma therapy after years of talking about what happened. Insight matters, but it does not always reach the part of you that still reacts. Therapy can give that part room to settle, at a pace that feels manageable.

How Stephanie works with trauma

Stephanie is trained in Brainspotting Levels 1–3, plus Expansion and Child-Centered Brainspotting, and uses it alongside other integrative, evidence-based approaches. Brainspotting does not require you to retell your story in detail, which many people find a relief.

Sessions move at your pace. You decide what to bring, and nothing is rushed. For clients who want it, faith can be part of the process. It is never assumed.

Questions people ask

Do I have to talk about what happened in detail?

No. You can share as much or as little as feels right. Approaches like Brainspotting work without a detailed retelling, and part of trauma-informed care is not pushing you further than you are ready to go.

What if my experience does not seem serious enough to call trauma?

You do not need to decide whether something counts before reaching out. If something from your past is still affecting you now, that is reason enough to talk about it.

Is trauma therapy available by telehealth?

Yes. Renew is a virtual practice, so every session is by secure video through SimplePractice, for clients physically located in Georgia or California at the time of the session.
