Therapy for burnout, for the people everyone else leans on

You are good at what you do, and people depend on it. From the outside you look fine. Underneath, you are exhausted, short-fused or quietly numb, and another productivity strategy is not going to fix it.

You may recognize some of this

You do not need to have it all figured out before reaching out.

  • Tired in a way that a weekend or a vacation does not touch
  • Dreading work you used to find meaningful
  • Irritability, cynicism or detachment that does not feel like you
  • Trouble sleeping, or finally switching off only to feel worse
  • Being the steady one for everyone, with nowhere to set it down yourself
  • In ministry, feeling that you are not allowed to struggle

How therapy can help

Burnout is rarely just a workload problem. It often sits on top of long habits of overfunctioning, a strong sense of responsibility, and experiences that taught you to keep going no matter what. Therapy looks at all of it, not only your calendar.

The aim is not to make you less capable. It is to help you understand what is driving the exhaustion, recover some capacity, and find a way of working and caring for others that does not cost you everything.

Why Stephanie works with this

Before and alongside her private practice, Stephanie spent more than 20 years in academic leadership and program development, and she works with particular attention to high-functioning professionals and ministry leaders navigating burnout and emotional fatigue. She knows the pressures of leadership from the inside.

Her approach is integrative, drawing on trauma-informed care, Brainspotting, and Integrative Mental Health Counseling, which considers lifestyle alongside therapy. For pastors and ministry leaders who want it, faith-integrated counseling is available. It is never assumed.

Questions people ask

Is this therapy or coaching?

This is therapy: licensed clinical care. If you are mainly looking for leadership development or career strategy, coaching may be a better fit, and Renew offers that too. If burnout is affecting your mood, sleep, relationships or sense of self, therapy is the right place to start.

I lead a church. Will faith be part of this?

Only if you want it to be. Many ministry leaders value a counselor who understands the world they work in. Faith-integrated counseling is available for clients who ask for it, and never assumed.

Can sessions fit around a demanding schedule?

Telehealth can make regular sessions easier to protect, and it is available to clients physically located in Georgia or California. Scheduling is one of the practical details to talk through in your consultation.
